NeoData Update Instructions
** These instructions assume you have NeoData in a shared folder on a server, and each workstation has a shortcut **
If you are not using this deployment method your instructions may vary.
- Find your current version numbers for both NeoData and the HL7 Interface. For NeoData it is available in Help -> About. For the Interface it is in the bottom right corner of the server manager. While you’re there check compatibility with NNM and the HL7 Interface to see if those need updated as well.
- Go to our Updates page and download the latest version of both products.
- Back up your SQL Server Database. Back up your application folder (the shared folder).
- Run the NeoData Updater from any PC or server that has access to the shared folder.
- It will first prompt for the update password; if you do not have this password please contact Isoprime Technical Support.
- Next it will prompt for the shared folder, and overwrite the files in there with the newest version.
- Launch NeoData. You will be prompted again for the update password.
- Once the database updates are complete, NeoData is up to date and ready to use.
These instructions are for updating the HL7 Interface. You should have already updated NeoData.
- Go to our Updates page and download the latest version (if you didn’t already as part of your NeoData update)
- Back up your SQL Server Database (if you didn’t already as part of your NeoData update)
- Run the HL7 Interface Updater from the Interface Server
- It will first prompt for the update password; this is the same as it is for NeoData. If you do not have this password please contact Isoprime Technical Support.
- Next it will prompt for the installation folder for the existing interface.
- Once complete, Launch the Interface Manager.
- Validate: If the bottom-left corner of the interface manager does not indicate the Windows Service is Running please start it.
Update / Technical FAQ
If I update NeoData am I required to update the interface?
Maybe. The updates page lists minimum required version for compatibility.
Should I update? What's in the new version?
There’s an enhancement list for each product (NeoData, NNM, HL7 Interface) in the Change Log document on our updates site.
I have an idea for a new feature. How do I get that in a future update?
Almost all of our features come directly from user requests. The best thing you can do if you find a feature lacking is to let us know. Head over to the Contact section and call or email us.
For feature requests, the more detail the better. Also, be sure to let us know how to reach out to you – we may have follow-up questions.
What OS/Server/SQL Server versions are supported?
Workstations: Windows 7 or later (requires .NET Framework 4.5.1 or later, which is an add-on for Windows 7, but included with Windows 10)
Server: Windows Server 2012 R2 or later
SQL Server: Version 2016 or later
How long of a downtime should we plan for?
We recommend planning for 60 minutes. Our updates typically take far less than that, but it allows the users to have an expectation for the worst case scenario.
Should I update NeoData first or the HL7 Interface first?
NeoData. Once NeoData is up and running on the new version you can update the interface.
Do you support Citrix (or other similar platforms)?
We do not certify or officially support implementation on Citrix or any other virtualization/deployment platform. That said, many of our clients with Citrix expertise do deploy our products using these tools.
Do users need write access to the shared folder?
Yes. Configuration changes, custom dictionaries, notice messages, and other important features all rely on users being able to write to that folder.
How often are new versions released?
Feature releases are done roughly quarterly, and bugfix releases are done as needed.
How can I get notified when new versions are released?
Email isosales@isoprime.com and ask to be added to the list.
I only have a production environment. How can I create a test environment?
See this document for instructions on creating a test environment from an existing production environment.
